Learn how to provision 1000 networks in 5 minutes using Meraki APIs

[Q.] Can we use this Boundless Automation’s network provisioning tool for existing networks or just for creating new ones?

[a.] Today, the Network Provisioning tool is focused on generating and creating new networks. However, we are expanding the tools and functionalities on a daily basis.

This means that in a day or in a week from now, you’d be able to use the same workflow to generates changes on a massive scale for any existing networks. That way, if we have networks that have different configurations, but you’d like to automate the configuration changes for those, you can build a workflow and apply those changes on a large scale.

[Q.] What’s the file format for your uploads?

[a.] During the live demonstration, we’ve used a CSV file. But the uploads let you use also Excel files. If you’ve already defined your networks ahead of time and you know the structure that you’d like to use, you can use this right away. You can just upload the file, then define the columns, and the platform will detect and extract the data automatically. 

[Q.] Can we configure other options at the same time?

[a.] Assuming that by other options, you mean other steps in the workflow, the answer is yes. We are progressively adding more and more steps on the Workflow Builder to ensure more complex workflows can be successfully built using the Boundless Automation tool.

[Q.] Can we configure multiple SSID per AP or is this limited to one?

[a.] With the Workflow Builder you can configure multiple SSIDs. Anything that you have to configure multiple times in a network, can be done through the Boundless Automation platform.

[Q.] Can we use Boundless Automation with Meraki templates?

[a.] Meraki gives you the Meraki templates, which allow you to apply configurations on a massive scale. As we’ve seen in the demonstration, you can bind your network to your existing templates.

But sometimes, if you need to make custom configuration changes to 1 or 2 networks, you may find that templates can be constraining.

With Boundless Automation, once you’ve defined all of your networks, you can manage them more easily.

What we’ve imagined is what we call the Boundless FlexTemplates (Flex as in flexible ).

Our FlexTemplates give you a way to have the same benefits as Meraki Templates, but since they use the API you can have the flexibility to go afterward and make customizations on your own.
